Mrs. Shamsun Nahar
Senior district and Sessions judge.
Begum Shamsun Nahar was born on December 15, 1970, in the village of Nanduhar, located in Swarupkathi (now Nesarabad) under Pirojpur district. She passed her S.S.C. examination in 1985 and H.S.C. in 1987 under the Jessore Education Board. She obtained her LL.B. (Hons.) in 1991 and LL.M. in 1992 from the University of Dhaka.
On June 24, 1998, she qualified through the 18th BCS examination and began her judicial career as an Assistant Judge at the Patuakhali District Judge's Court. Over the years, she served in various capacities including Assistant Judge, Senior Assistant Judge, Joint District Judge, and Additional District and Sessions Judge in the District Judge’s Courts of Narayanganj, Kishoreganj, Dhaka, Rajbari, Noakhali, and Comilla.
She was promoted to District and Sessions Judge on April 22, 2016, and subsequently served at the Nari O Shishu Nirjatan Daman Tribunal in Dhaka and the Special Judge's Court in Comilla. On January 14, 2025, she assumed the position of District and Sessions Judge in Chandpur District.
Throughout her career, she participated in numerous trainings and workshops organized by the Judicial Administration Training Institute, the Public Administration Training Center in Savar, and the Bangladesh Institute of Law and International Affairs (BILIA).
She Visited to Thailand, South Korea and Saudi Arabia.
